1 John 3:1 - Children of God

Scripture:

1 John 3:1
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
NASU

Thoughts:

The phrase "children of God" is thrown around so loosely these days, that it has nearly lost its meaning to us.  But reflect on those words for a minute.  Anyone who is in Christ has been declared by the God of the universe to be His child.  This is truly amazing love!

Most people in the world are never considered to be among the great by the judgment of history.  Most of us could not even receive any special recognition in the town nearest to where we live.  But God the Father is pleased to take us into His own family.  He has bestowed upon us the greatest honor possible.  Praise Him!

Prayer:

Lord, my life is of little significance to the rest of the world, but thank You that to You -- the One that matters -- it is immeasurably valuable.  In Your Son, You have received me, adopting me into Your own family.  No matter what else may happen to me in my life, no one can take away this outlandish gift.

Amen
