1 John 4:16 - Proof of our faith

1 John 4:16
16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Thoughts:

John offers a confirming sign of whether a person is in the faith.  A Christian's life should be marked by love, they are to abide in love.

I'm so thankful that God made belief the path to salvation, and not loving others.  There is sufficient evidence of Christ's life, death, and resurrection to convince even the skeptic that He is indeed God and we should believe, but loving others can be difficult!

No, instead we abide in His love after coming to Him by faith.  When we abide in His love, He is able to give us love for others. 


Prayer:

Thank You Father, that I abide in You.  Just saying that brings a sense of relief and peace to my heart.

I'm so glad You've taken me in.  And doubly glad that You are working out the failings in me, making me more like Yourself; enabling me to truly love others, even my enemies.
