1 John 4:6 - God listeners
Scripture:
1 John 4:6
6 We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Thoughts:
As Jesus said, His sheep know His voice. This explains why so often people following false religious beliefs or none at all, reject the sound teaching of the Bible when they learn of it. John shows us here that they are following a different spirit and therefore reject the Spirit of God, though they likely do not realize it.
And those of us in Christ were once no different. It is only because we have come to know God through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son that we now know Him. Though at one time we were living in opposition to Him, following false spirits unknowingly, now we have been brought out of darkness and bondage, and into His wonderful light:
1 Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
NASU
Prayer:
Lord, what a miracle salvation is! Truly apart from Your work, none of us would ever respond to You. I thank You for my salvation. May I be used by You to help others come to know You, as well.
Amen
