Acts 27:1-3 - Refuge in the storm
Scripture:
Acts 27:1-3
When it was decided that we would sail for Italy, they proceeded to deliver Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion of the Augustan cohort named Julius.
When it was decided that we would sail for Italy, they proceeded to deliver Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion of the Augustan cohort named Julius.
2 And embarking in an Adramyttian ship, which was about to sail to the regions along the coast of Asia, we put out to sea accompanied by Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica.
3 The next day we put in at Sidon; and Julius treated Paul with consideration and allowed him to go to his friends and receive care.

Thoughts:
Paul is allowed by his captor to visit his friends on the journey to Rome. You have to wonder if he, as others, could see what a good man Paul was, and so gave him this benefit?
Whatever the case, God gave Paul this encouragement in the midst of his trial. It's just like the Lord to do this! Unexpectedly, He can bring a break in the storm to give us rest and encouragement. The storm isn't over, but He just reminds us in this way that He hasn't forgotten about us, and He's still working on our behalf.
What a wonderful God we follow, as Christians!
Prayer:
It is so wonderful that You are a personal God! You choose to involve Yourself in the details of our lives, even providing us breaks like You did the Apostle Paul in this story.
Help me to recognize when You intervene, that I might praise You. And further, let me praise You in faith, whether You choose to intervene in a particular circumstance, or not.
Amen
