1 Thessalonians 4:2 - Holy to the Lord

1 Thessalonians 4:2
2 For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

Thoughts:
New Testament verses like this may be a little shocking to us. Living now with a full understanding of God's grace through Christ's sacrifice on the cross, we sometimes forget the Lord still has commandments for us. We erroneously may think He has laid down His right to exercise authority over our daily lives.
But this is not so. Though no one today has the office of apostle as Paul did to bring such commands, we are still bound to what has been revealed in scripture. The Law has been fulfilled in Christ, but as His children, His will is for us to walk in holiness:
1 Thessalonians 4:4
4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor

Prayer:
Lord, I bow to You, today. May I be obedient to Your voice.
Convict me of any sin. Break me, move me to repentance and empower me to change.
