1 Thessalonians 5:25 - Priority of prayer

Scripture:

1 Thessalonians 5:25
25 Brethren, pray for us.
NASU

Thoughts:

There is a temptation to slip into a half-hearted attitude towards prayer, to not see it as the direct line that it is to the Lord.  To even get lazy, figuring the Lord's will is going to be done, whether we pray or not.

But Paul didn't think this way, here imploring the Thessalonian church to pray for him and his partners in ministry.  When you consider that Paul wrote some of the most memorable passages on the sovereignty of God, this tells us something:  our need for prayer is not nullified by God's sovereignty.  Indeed, we need both to pray and to be lifted up in prayer by others.  Prayer does change things, whether we can fully understand it or not.

Prayer:

Thank You for giving us prayer.  I can pray not only for my own concerns, but for other people and thereby participate in Your working in their lives.

Help me to be more diligent to pray.

Amen
