Amos 1:1 - God uses the ordinary

Scripture:

Amos 1:1
1 The words of Amos, who was among the sheepherders from Tekoa, which he envisioned in visions concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
NASU

Thoughts:

Amos was not a professional prophet or religious leader.  He was a shepherd from a remote place whom the Lord chose to use.

It is always encouraging to see how the Lord takes the ordinary and even the very weak, and uses them by His strength.  Amos is an example of this, and as a result of his obedience, we have this Old Testament book.  What might God be calling you or I to do?

Prayer:

Thank You that You use even those of us who are not "professionals" in ministry.  Those without credentials, but still led and empowered by You.

Glory to Your name, for this wonderful gift!  Grant me the boldness to follow where You lead me.

Amen
