Ecclesiastes 8:1 - Blessing of understanding
Scripture:
Ecclesiastes 8:1
8 Who is like the wise man and who knows the interpretation of a
matter? A man's wisdom illumines him and causes his stern face to beam.

Thoughts:
Is it not so that understanding brings with it a sense of
satisfaction? Even when we don't like what we have learned, it is still
better to know. In all facets of life we find this pleasure. From
something as unimportant as mastering a hobby, to understanding
profound spiritual and philosophical truths. At all levels we desire
to
know and rejoice upon knowing.
But there are times that we don't understand. Particularly in the
Lord, there can be seasons of life that are trying. Seasons that we
wonder, where is the Lord taking me? Has He forgotten me? In short,
what is going on!? It might encourage you to know that the devotional
you are reading now came out of a time of testing like this. It was a
time on the side lines of ministry and of wondering about the Lord's
will that led me to begin sending out devotionals. How amazing to
think that a time of unanswered questions for me, led to (I hope) a
ministry to you in God's design. That time was therefore not wasted
time, but directed by God to bring about this greater end. What might
God be looking to accomplish through your current questions?
Prayer:
Thank You God, for giving us minds that can understand. That we are
not simply animals driven along by instincts, but have the ability to
reason and to think abstractly.
Thank You more so, that You are the unseen hand in the course of our
lives. You are so faithful to even use the times that we consider
wasted time, for the accomplishment of Your glorious will.
Amen
