Mark 1:40-45 - Trusting in His timing
Scripture:
Mark 1:40-45
40 And a leper came to Jesus, beseeching Him and falling on his knees
before Him, and saying, "If You are willing, You can make me clean."
41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him,
and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed."
42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
43 And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away,
44 and He said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone; but go,
show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses
commanded, as a testimony to them."
45 But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the
news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly
enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming
to Him from everywhere.

Thoughts:
Jesus knew it was not yet time for a full disclosure of His identity.
Mark 1:34
34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out
many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because
they knew who He was.
NASU
He further did not want news of His healing power to spread too fast
(verse 44). This seems strange to us, but Jesus knew this would hinder
His ministry (verse 45).
This makes me think of things that perhaps you or I would like to see
come to pass in our own lives and ministry. Things that are good,
God's will we trust, but the timing isn't right, yet. In times like
this, it is best to trust in the Lord and wait. We don't want to do as
this man, getting ahead of God in disobedience, even if just because
we're excited as he was.
What a comfort it is to know that God does have a plan. He is working
things out according to His wisdom and will. As we wait on Him, we can
experience the fullness of all He is doing.
Prayer:
Thank You, Jesus. I can rest in Your arms that hold me up, even while
I wait for Your will to unfold. Give me the faith and patience to do
this!
Amen
