Mark 14:21 - Personal accountability
Scripture:
Mark 14:21
21 "For the Son of Man is to go just as it is written of Him; but woe
to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good
for that man if he had not been born."
NASU
Thoughts:
Man is accountable for his sin. This is an unpopular truth today, as
doubtless it has always been.
And yet, it remains. There's no deterministic undercurrent that
relieves people of their guilt. When we sin, no matter what influences
may exist around us, it is ultimately our
choice. Even here, as Judas is fulfilling prophecy by betraying Jesus,
it was his fateful decision to do so, a decision for which he would be
culpable.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for choosing to die in my place, washing away my sin
with Your own blood. Because of what You have done, my slate is
clean. You took the wrongs on my account, onto Yourself. Though I
should be guilty, I am set free.
Help me today to choose holiness in all I do, say, and think.
Amen
