Genesis 13:1-2 - Unexpected provision
Scripture:
Genesis 13:1-2
1 So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, he and his wife and all
that belonged to him, and Lot with him.
2 Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver and in gold.

Thoughts:
Although Abram clearly was in sin by going to Egypt rather than
trusting God for provision, God still uses evil Pharaoh to enrich
Abram:
Genesis 12:15-16
15 Pharaoh's officials saw her (Sarai) and praised her to Pharaoh; and
the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. 16 Therefore he treated Abram
well for her sake; and gave him sheep and oxen and donkeys and male and
female servants and female donkeys and camels.
NASU
This reminds me of how God provides for the needs of most of us through
secular hands (within His will however, not in disobedience like
Abram). Not many experience the blessing of being employed by a fellow
Christian, for example.
This is somewhat paradoxical. Our employers may not fear God, yet they
are used of Him to provide for us and to accomplish His will in our
lives. Think of the countless ministries and missionaries that are
funded indirectly by those who do not believe in their cause! What an
amazing God who provides in such unexpected ways.
Prayer:
Lord, it is neat to see how You provide for us. It can be hard to work
for the ungodly, but I praise You that even through that, You
accomplish Your will.
Amen
