Genesis 15:3-8 - Faith like a mustard seed
Scripture:
Genesis 15:3-8
3 And Abram said, " Since You have given no offspring to me, one
born in my house is my heir."
4 Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, "This man
will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own
body, he shall be your heir."
5 And He took him outside and said, "Now look toward the heavens,
and count the stars, if you are able to count them." And He said
to him, " So shall your descendants be."
6 Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as
righteousness.
7 And He said to him, "I am the Lord who brought you out of Ur of
the Chaldeans, to give you this land to possess it."
8 He said, "O Lord God, how may I know that I will possess it?"

Thoughts:
Abram's crucial moment of believing faith (verse 6) is enclosed
by doubts (verses 3 and 8). This verse is explained further
by Paul in the New Testament, and we understand it as Abram's
point of salvation:
Romans 4:1-5a
1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according
to the flesh, has found? 2 For if Abraham was justified by
works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3
For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT
WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." 4 Now to the one who
works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who
justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness

Romans 5:1a
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with
God through our Lord Jesus Christ

I marvel that God receives any of us to Himself! Like Abram, we
are so prone to doubt among our other imperfections. But God does
not save us on account of amazing faith or pious works on our
part, He saves us by His grace, through faith the size of a
mustard seed. Praise God for His amazing salvation!
Prayer:
Thank You Jesus, that You took my punishment upon Yourself. Thank
You for Your amazing grace. Help me to live my life today in such
a way that is pleasing to You. How I depend on Your grace each
day!
Amen
